Colour can have a huge emotional and psychological impact on employees and their productivity.
Different hues don’t just change our moods, they also profoundly impact our productivity, for better and for worse. That’s why it’s worth considering adding a splash of colour into your workplace, with a vibrant medley of stimulating hues that increase output and spark creativity.
If you can't change the colour of your whole office, opt for accents in soft furnishings so that different teams are surrounded by the colors that will best suit their type of work. Comfort, the UK seating manufacturer, offers a wide range of mesh, fabric and leather upholstery options for their ergonomic seating collections in a range of colours that can brighten up any office space and can help set the desired mood or reflect a company’s corporate identity.
Restful greens and calming blues stimulates the mind and can improve efficiency and focus, lending an overall sense of well-being. If you want happier, more effective workers, green and blue are wise choices. Red and hot pinks are active, intense and adventurous – although not ideal where a more soothing environment is desired. The passion-inspiring colors can affect the body, increase the heart rate and blood flow upon sight. If there’s something in the office to which you want to urgently draw employees’ eyes, red will attract. Meanwhile, yellow is the shade of optimism – energetic and fresh and excellent when used in work environments where creative professionals work.
Step onto out of your comfort zone and into ours to reap the rewards of a productive, bright, colourful and stylish workspace.

Comfort’s intuitive single lever is designed to make it simple to control the chair’s adjustments from your fingertips.
When fitting-out workspaces, the office chair is an often overlooked investment. With the average office worker spending the equivalent of five years sat at their desk, it’s no surprise that poor furniture choices contribute to absenteeism and reduced productivity.
According to the Office for National Statistics, back and neck problems were the most common cause of office absenteeism in the UK in 2013, with 131 million days being lost as a result. It’s clearly in the best interests of everyone concerned that these work-related conditions are avoided. One solution is to ensure that office workers have a task chair that can be tailored to their proportions, and that they’re trained to sit correctly - minimizing potential musculoskeletal problems.
That some companies would scrimp on chairs without considering the positive benefits of well-being at work seems short-sighted and, in the longer term, a costly mistake.
Comfort’s innovative range of ergonomic task chairs are designed to be compatible with individuals’ needs through smart design, engineering and advanced technology such as their patented single lever mechanism. The revolutionary lever provides intuitive, simple adjustments from one location, making it invaluable in today’s agile work environments.
Traditionally, adjusting a task chair required working several levers for limited adjustments. Whether a workspace’s function is to accommodate single or multi-users in working environments like call centres or co-working spaces, it is important to have an ergonomic chair that is adjustable and simple to control. Comfort’s intuitive single lever is designed to make it simple to control the chair’s adjustments from your fingertips.
Their patented single lever operates the three most frequently used chair functions from a single point of contact (seat height, seat depth and back tilt), and a separate tension control can be set to personalized tilt resistance in dynamic mode.
For multi-user environments, Comfort’s Project chairs make fast set-up even easier by automatically adjusting to the user's weight when they sit on the chair by calculating the ideal tilt tension from the user's weight - constantly supporting changes in weight distribution and movement. This makes the Project Enjoy and Mirus chairs the perfect task seating solution for multi-user environments requiring speedy staff changeover without each new user throughout the working day having to fiddle with tension controls.
Advantages of certified ergonomic office chairs:
- Effortless set-up
- Reduced stress on the body
- Less absenteeism
- Increased productivity
- Improved morale and wellbeing
- Added style

Comfort has upgraded its manufacturing headquarters with the world’s first automated assembly line for office seating.
It’s another milestone for the global furniture manufacturer with the focus on creating greatly enhanced workforce creativity, safety and productivity. Continuing to lead the industry in innovation, the factory provides a clean, comfortable, technology-based working environment and delivers exceptional efficiency.

Ayrshire Mag features a three page profile on Comfort's Orgatec stand.
"It was a big year for Ayrshire seating manufacturer, Comfort - climaxing at Germany’s largest commercial furniture trade event - ORGATEC. But there’s little time to relax and reflect as the Newmilns-based team launch their brand across Europe. Their metamorphosis from a small, family-run business selling office seating in the UK, to a manufacturer distributing across the whole of Europe was ambitious to say the least but, with the support of an experienced team from across the office furniture and manufacturing sectors, the future looks rosy for this dynamic brand.
Comfort’s 324 m2 exhibition stand in Cologne was certainly a bold statement. Their familiar office chairs featured prominently in a combination of Comfort’s own mesh ranges combined with Scottish fabric manufacturer – Bute’s striking, contemporary tweeds. Expanding into a wider product offering for 2017, acoustic seating pods with smart lighting and adjustable neck support complemented their well-being at work message. A firm favourite at this year’s Orgatec, agile work trends inspired sit-stand desking and storage solutions, and demonstrated innovative technology integration.
Punchy upholstery from both Bute and Camira also featured on their Elematrix soft seating. A range of stools, tables, pods, hot desks and accessories created comfortable zones for informal meeting or relaxing. Luxurious leather and cowhide lounge seating also offered battle-weary visitors much-needed feet-up time.
Particular focus was extended to Comfort’s flagship Ergohuman chair – celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and over a million units sold. Their latest chairs to be launched – Genidia and Genidia Smart, also took centre stage, showcasing some of the most innovative technology and materials on the market.
To further celebrate their flagship chair Ergohuman’s tenth birthday, Comfort will be running special promotions and events at the start of the new year. Comfort also look forward to introducing their expanded furniture offering in 2017. Punchy upholstery also featured on their Elematrix soft seating and proved popular among visitors. Luxurious leather and cowhide lounge seating also offered battle-weary visitors much-needed feet-up time.

CEO, Gareth Gillespie, is thrilled about what 2016 brought to the business: “Orgatec was a big deal for us. We were well known within the UK office furniture sector as a distributer of exceptional ergonomic seating, but we needed to make impact on the bigger stage and get the message out about our investment in both manufacturing and distribution across the whole of Europe.”
To further celebrate their flagship chair Ergohuman’s tenth birthday, Comfort will be running special promotions and events. Comfort also look forward to launching their expanded furniture offering later in 2017."
Comfort wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Comfort will close at 1 pm on 23 December 2016 and will re-open at 9 am on 3 January 2017.
For UK customers, to ensure delivery of stock items before Christmas, any orders is required to be received by us latest Noon on 19th December.
As in previous years, instead of sending printed Christmas cards, we have made a donation to a local charity - Cash For Kids.
Comfort hosted a table at what was easily the best Mixology to date.
Yes... it's that time of year again, when the brave northerners of the UK's office furniture and fit-out industry steel themselves for the Mix North photographs to start creeping onto the interwebs. Fear ye not, fellow furnashions – you all looked fabulous.
Tuxedos and cocktail dressed guests flowed into Manchester Central to what could only be described as a beautiful winter circus/alpine wonderland. After one or two reception drinks *ahem*, one could be forgiven for starting to believe we were in Aspen, surrounded by wooden chalets and snow-dusted fir trees. The main arena, where we would feast and play, was just as breathtaking, if not more. If anyone had said before we arrived that we'd be sharing our dining space with the Dodgems and Waltzers we would have wondered who'd lost their mind - however, it really worked. The stunning mood lighting delivered surprising fairground elegance perfectly. Who knew?
Joining us on our table this year were a fabulous group of friends from Gannon Office, Bureau, Sixteen3, Quantum2, Online Ergonomics, Vergo UK and Plus Finance - and clearly we had the most fun of all the revellers as we were treated to a fine show of cirque entertainers dancing elegantly from trapeze and ribbons before some rather splendid light shows and pyrotechnics. Then we dined on fine food and wine and celebrated the winners from across the industry.
There's nothing quite like watching the most sophisticated diners turn eight years old as, after coffee and petit-fours, we were told the fairground was open. We're quite sure nobody was hurt in the stampede for the Waltzers (yet to be confirmed). It stands testament to how robust our industry is that, when stuffed with fine wines and four courses, they can be flung around and around AND around again at frightening velocity and walk off to the dressy-up photobooth without a hint of green in their faces. Bravo!
If Carlsberg did office furniture events, this is what they would be like. Thank you to our guests who made it so much fun, and well done to Mix Interiors for a superb event. Next year's Mix North will be their tenth one - we are intrigued to find out how they plan to beat this one. Watch this space.
Comfort are delighted to be at ORGATEC 2016. Find us in Hall 6, Stand B31.
It's been a fantastic start to ORGATEC 2016. Our 324 square meter stand exceeded our expectations and we've been very busy with plenty of visitors checking out our range of ergonomic chairs, news desking and storage solutions, sit-stand products and soft-seating ranges.
If you've not been over to see us yet, please pop over to Hall 6, stand B31 for a coffee (or something stronger) and say hello.
Introducing Andrew Shepherd as Comfort's new Business Development Manager in the UK.
Andrew has been in the office furniture business for over 20 years - and with that vast experience, Comfort are delighted to bring him on board as Business Development Manager.
Andrew says "Developing accounts and building relationships has been a big part of my success and I have been working with some accounts ever since I began in the industry – customer facing is a key part of what I do."
He continues: "Outside of work, I spend much of my time on the golf course, and have been known to win the odd competition. When at home, I am mainly a labourer in the garden for my wife (she has the ideas and is always coming home with yet more plants). I just dig the holes! I also enjoy photography, but definitely qualify as an amateur."
A welcome addition to the Comfort Sales and Business Development team, Andrew will be predominantly managing our London and the south of England business.

Our founder and CEO, Gareth Gillespie, features in Ayrshire Magazine's Business Profile this month.
"Like all great stories, the best ones have happy endings, and the story of Comfort Europe is well on its way to being just that. It’s a tale of ambition, inspiration, audacity – at times, sheer madness – but most of all, it’s a story of ‘paying it forward’."
Gareth speaks to Ayrshire magazine about how Comfort Europe came to be, the changes involved in becoming a UK manufacturer and the thrill of becoming a major employer in his home town.
“In the next year we’ll be celebrating our flagship chair, Ergohuman, selling over a million units, and bringing manufacturing to Ayshire is a dream come true for me.”

Gareth Gillespie announced as Comfort Europe CEO.
With over twenty years in the office furniture sector, Gareth previously founded the Mesh Office Seating brand - the UK distributor of Comfort Seating products.
'The Taster' event was a roaring success - celebrating the launch of the newest Comfort chair - Genidia.
What better way to celebrate exciting, new developments in the business than with the fantastic people who work in partnership to build and develop the Comfort brand? The fabulous Lochgreen House Hotel was the venue, on a crisp, Scottish winter's day to indulge our fantastic sales network with a taste of Scotland. Whisky galore, piper piping and, of course, haggis - a good time was had by all. We would like to offer our thanks to everyone who joined us, and extend a warm invitation to visit us again soon.
Comfort launch custom-built showroom in the UK.
We’re not sure what the collective noun for dealers is, but we do know that a lot of them were royally treated recently. 'The Taster' launch event was held at the stunning 5-star Lochgreen House Hotel, just south of Glasgow. In the heart of Ayrshire, Lochgreen House Hotel is set in 30 acres of woodlands and gardens, overlooking the Royal Troon Championship Golf Course.
We not only launched our latest task chair, Genidia, to dealers and guests at the event, but also celebrated the opening of our impressive new, custom-built showroom – and did so in some style! Whisky tasting, Burns-themed supper and a full-on traditional Scottish breakfast all added to the taste of Scotland theme.
